I am sick of the marketing of Christmas, and I bet that you are as well by now. Oh, I know, people have talked to death about commercialism and consumerism and such, but these are not the things that anger me the very most. No, not at all. What angers me most is the way that our rigid roles are reinforced by the ways that people market their Christmas gift ideas. This, they will say, is the right Christmas gift for a man, that the right Christmas gift for a woman, and the other, the perfect Christmas gift for a teenager – as if the whole personality of someone could come down simply to their gender and age. Let me say this plainly now, and not be misunderstood: there is no ideal Christmas gift for a male. They may tell you that a Christmas gift for a man is a pocket knife, or a new tie, or a war book, but all of that is hogwash. The only perfect Christmas gift for a man is the gift that that man wants, and men are as different from each other as they are from women or teenagers.
Of course, I know that the companies market Christmas gifts for a man partly as a way to make things easy for the consumer. They want to put things that men usually want all together, so that when someone does go out and look for a Christmas gift for a man, they will see them all in one section. But beyond that, I think that the system of having men's Christmas gifts and women's Christmas gifts has a more sinister function. I think that they do it all to cement their hold over us. If a Christmas gift for a man is a pocket knife or a nice watch, then every year you have to buy all of the men in your life one of these things. And so on.
It is really every bit as sinister as all that, and I am not joking. There are people who spend years thinking about how to best market to a group of people, and this is how they think. They will try to make everyone buy the most expensive Christmas gift for a man that they can, and that way they will make more money. And money is, of course, what the holiday is all about for these companies.

Each year, I have the same problem. I can never decide what to buy for my husband, my dad, and my brothers. I can buy very easily for the women in my family, and for my friends, but when it comes time to buy a Christmas gift for a man, I get stumped rather easily. I don’t know why this is, it just is. It seems that men are pickier than they seem, and I just never feel like I get it wrong. If you have trouble finding a Christmas gift for a man, you have to get some help.
You can find ideas online, and this is what has finally helped me in my search for a Christmas gift for a man in my life. The problem seems to be that stores have the same stuff each year, and most of the stuff is worthless to the men that I know. They don’t need any golf clubs, and if they did, I should not be the one picking one out. Surely a big screen television would be great, but it is a little bit out of my budget. So when it comes time to buy, I turn to the Internet to find what I need.
A little searching should help you come up with some good ideas. You don’t have to buy online, but it is a great place to find a Christmas gift for a man that you cannot find anywhere else. You can even look on eBay for your choice, to see if you can get it for a better price than offered by the website you found. The great thing about searching online is that you can get items delivered to your home, which totally bypasses the crowds in the stores.
If you don’t have any luck online, you can try infomercials. I know, I know, these are annoying, but they also have great products. Even better, you should check out the Home Shopping Network. When it comes time for the holidays, many of these have shows that cater to helping you find the perfect Christmas gift for a man. If they can’t help you, perhaps no one can.
When it just seems like nothing is working out, and you think buying a Christmas gift for a man is hopeless, know that you have one last option. This may not seem like the best gift, but it will always be a welcome one. No matter what their favorite hobby may be, you can find a gift certificate that will help them buy time, equipment, supplies, or anything else they may have a use for. Buying a Christmas gift for a man should not be this hard, but perhaps that is just how it is.

Buying presents for guys is never an easy task. Of course, many of us opt for the regular old stock of items that may or may not make a great splash. This year, why not take a different approach to choosing Christmas gifts for men? High tech gadgets are always winners as far as most men are concerned. Following are three outstanding ideas that make perfect Christmas gifts for men.
Professional guys may seem as if they are all work and no play. However, you can find great Christmas gifts for men that appeal to the working side as well as the playful side. Electronics offer wonderful options that allow a person to get in some quality relax time while on route to an important event.
A little downtime is always a good idea. It helps to keep the mind clear and the blood pressure down. One of the Christmas gifts for men that really stand out as a great way to get away from a stressful day at work is the portable DVD player. This device is perfect for the professional on the go.
Why tote around a laptop when you can take a break with a portable DVD player that is lightweight and convenient? This is one of my favorite Christmas presents for men that is just downright cool. If you know a professional on the move, you may want to look into this present.
How about a Flash Drive and MP3 Player combo? These Christmas gifts for men are winners each and every time. Skip the floppy discs and adopt a new way to transfer files from your laptop to your office computer. All this is available and music, too. How can you lose with this wining gift?
My last pick for Christmas gifts for men is the Video and MP3 Jukebox Recorder. This one hits a high note each and every time. Guys love that this unit stores pictures, plays videos and it can record up to 40 hours of video. This gadget is well-loved by teens and adults alike.
When it comes to Christmas gifts for men you can’t go wrong by going high tech. There are plenty of different options available for great presents for all the guys on your list. Whether you are shopping for a professional or a teen, there will be at least one great gift idea for you to consider.

Christmas is the season when we all stop and take the time to show our love and appreciation to others by giving them different types of gifts. Some of us shop for Christmas gifts all year round in order to find the perfect gift. Many times I have heard that the most difficult thing is to get a Christmas present for a man; well, here are some tips, which I hope will help you to pick the perfect gift this Christmas season.
First and foremost you must take in consideration the relationship between yourself and the man in question in order to decide how much you want to spend and how intimate a present to purchase. Once you have decided these two options you basically know what Christmas present for a man to look for.
If the man is your husband or close friend, I suggest you pay attention to his likes and dislikes well before Christmas in order to get the perfect Christmas present for a man; why, well, because your husband or friend is bound to express some desire to acquire something, which you can purchase and surprise him with at Christmas time. The Christmas present for a man does not have to be expensive, remember, it is only the gesture that matters in the end.
If it does happen however, that you are part of the last minute shopping frenzy before Christmas and you have not yet come up with a great Christmas present for a man you can use the following suggestions: DVD games, power tools (all men love power tools but you need to know what he already has so you don’t end up buying doubles) or indulge in adding to some of his hobbies for example if he collects stamps try and find him a unique one that will fit nicely into his present collection.
Choosing a gift is not hard at all when you know the man however, it can be a bit tricky when you are mere acquaintances and yet you still need to get something. Here are a few suggestions which hopefully will help you when choosing a Christmas present for a man you don’t know very well and don’t have the resources to find out or the time: a tie is a great gift especially if he is your office colleague, a pen, chocolates as everyone loves them and/or the latest big movie release on DVD.
When you are getting a gift remember to have a couple of little things besides the main gift, for example, a tie is the main gift and you also have a chocolate in a Christmas ornament shape and a symbolic greeting card. The extras add to the main Christmas present for a man and therefore to the excitement of the person receiving them; it’s always more fun opening a few gifts rather than just one.

It is December again, and along with it comes the unenviable task of buying hoards of presents for the most celebrated holiday of the year. Purchasing gifts for people may come easy to some, more difficult for others, but I find buying a Christmas present for a man by far the easiest. It may seem difficult at first, but if you follow some simple rules of thumb, buying a man something he will love, and use, can take absolutely no time at all.
Firstly, you must work under the assumption that most men are not concerned with you buying the perfect gift. If you buy them any gift at all, they are going to be pleased that you have remembered. They will not narrow their eyes and purse their lips if you buy them a red shirt instead of blue (unless they totally loathe red), they will just be over the moon that you thought of getting them a shirt in the first place. A Christmas present for a man need not necessarily need to be the best piece of techno-gadget or most expensive cologne – it really just has to be something he thinks he can use at some time or another.
In all honesty, buying a Christmas present for a man may take some ingenuity and perception, but it really just requires that you listen and notice. Men don’t normally drop hints if they want a present - they are usually very obvious about it. This may mean that they stare longingly for hours at a fishing pole in the window shop, or they complain loudly that the world would be a better place if they could just find a pair of boxer shorts that fit them. This is not guile either, it is merely them wishing they could have something and stating it out loud. Sure, there are exceptions to this rule, but nine times out of ten men are really happy to receive a great pair of socks or a new tie they have been meaning to buy since they were eighteen.
Next, if a woman is thinking of buying a Christmas present for a man, they should not concern themselves with quality over quantity. Buying a lot of little gifts may be preferable than putting one’s eggs all in one basket, and my boyfriend has been over the moon to find that he has received three little presents rather than merely one. I could buy him a pair of socks, a pair of boxers and a shirt and he will be utterly flabbergasted. Ultimately, as the holiday season approaches, a woman who is totally at a loss about buying a Christmas present for a man should merely do one of two things. She can ask him directly or she can ask his friends. It is probable that she would get two honest answers.

When I decided to go into business making gift baskets for men, my family was pretty skeptical to say the least. It wasn't that they didn't trust me to come up with good gifts. As a matter of fact, since I was five or six years old, I was known for my excellent gift suggestions. Whenever one of my siblings was trying to pick out a Father's Day present, they would come to me. I would intuitively know the perfect gifts for him when no one else could shop for my father. I used to make the most beautiful handmade gift baskets and send them to my grandmother. She was delighted, but a little bit jealous. You see, my presents were even better than hers!
Nonetheless, people were a little bit less optimistic about my gift basket for men idea. My mom said that if anyone could do it I could, but she still wasn't quite sure that I could. Gift baskets for men, after all, just weren't the way things were done. Everyone knows what kind of gifts men are supposed to like: pocket watches, pocket knives, gadgets and gizmos. You don't get men nicely decorated, frilly gift baskets! It just isn't done. Nonetheless, I saw the opening, and I decided to go for it.
It turned out to be surprisingly easy. As I soon found out, there are plenty of gift baskets for men that go over quite well without insulting the intended recipient's masculinity. You see, there are many thing that men like that can go in gift baskets. Cigars, sausage, cheese, brandy, and wine are all perfectly serviceable gift basket ideas. These are all things that you might get for a man anyway, so why not wrap them up nicely and send them in the mail?
As it turns out, my gift baskets for men went over incredibly well. I introduced them around Christmas, and from that point until New Year's, I was making a new gift basket for men every week. I had variety baskets, ones that matched the right wine with the right cheese, baskets for pipe smokers, baskets for cigar smokers – if you could name it, I could put it together. Not only was it lucrative, it was fun too! Starting my own business meant that I got to be my own boss, and I didn't have to answer to anyone. Who doesn't dream about that? I was living the dream!
