Leap Frog Leapster2 Learning Game System

Leap Frog Leapster2 Learning Game System

Give your kids new innovative creativity and fun --while watching them learn during the process with the The LeapFrog Leapster 2 Learning Game System.

This handheld battery-operated fits perfect with your children, and produces plenty of funny learning. It is delivered with two on-board educational games, with several more available: Purchase an optional SD card separately to access additional online games and also take advantage of other online features; or you can buy game cartridges to add to your Leapster 2 storage.

The included games have skill levels suitable for children ages 4 to 8.

The LeapFrog Leapster 2 comes with a comfortable, curved grip, although it may be a little large and heavy for tiny hands. It contains a full-color touch screen and the sound is far better than the quacky beeps of the outdated handheld consoles.

(The headphones jack and volume control will certainly be highly appreciated by parents!) With the many included stylus and with the videogame-style D pad and other buttons, kids may control and manipulate the console in many ways.

The initial set-up is relatively easy:

- Install the four required AA batteries.

- Navigate through the self-explanatory screens to create user profiles for up to 3 children

(which come in handy for accessing online features).

- After this quick set-up, a menu screen will appear, where you have 3 options:

     1) Play the pre-loaded games.

     2) Go online.

     3) Insert a game cartridge.

Learning by LeapFrog Leapster 2 is Fun!

Leapster 2 games are designed to grow for childdren of ages 4 through 8. The two preloaded games are:

- The "Dragons to the Rescue! Learning Game," is a "video game" like game with 4 different levels.

The first helping kids identify numbers and letters, the most advanced offers multiplication and spelling practice.

All while navigating a dragon past monstrous storm clouds and scrambling to collect magic crystals.

- The "Creativity Castle Art Studio" is kind of a rather easy art program.

Players can select a background scene to "color" using the stylus and "decorate" with funny animated stamps.

Unfortunately, you have to purchase an SD card to take full advantage of the Leapster 2, and this must be purchased separately.

Without the SD card, which adds more memory to the console, you're not able to save artwork, download new games, or take advantage of the online "Learning Path". (With the online program you can register and upload your children's Leapster 2 profiles to display the progress of their learning activities.)

You can still purchase game cartridges without the SD card. And you also may plug your console -- with the included USB cable -- into your PC for your children to view and print "rewards" for completing the different game levels (for Dragons to the Rescue, they're certificates of achievement) or to print pictures to color with actual crayons (to encourage some "old-fashioned" creativity!)

To do this you just install the Leapster 2 software on your computer from the included CD-ROM.
